Charities.

Whilst we support various charities our main chosen charity is "Wishes4Kids". We are actively raising funds for this charity, with events and and regular raffles & totes.

Wishes 4 Kids has been created to grant a wish for children and youngsters in Leicestershire who are life limited, terminally ill, have experienced major physical or emotional traumas, have suffered major abuse or are diagnosed as HIV Positive. The Charity grants wishes for those of eighteen years and below.

Although we have only recently received registered status (July 02) the Charity has already granted a number of wishes for local children. Sadly we do not have a magical cure for the suffering of these youngsters, however, we can bring a short period of respite. The time when a child has a wish granted is a moment that will be treasured by them for the rest of their life. It is also a time which parents will remember – that time when their child forgot the suffering.

COPE: The Laura Centre

Mission:

The Laura Centre (the sole project of the COPE, registered charity no 517974) provides free, confidential bereavement counselling for anyone affected by the death of a child, and also for children affected by death

Our principal areas of operation are Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. However, because of the lack of similar services in the near vicinity, we also offer support to families from surrounding counties such as Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire

Statistics:

Every year, more than 300 children and young people under the age of 25 will die in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland

92% of young people in the UK will experience a significant bereavement before the age of 16. Between 4 and 7% will lose a parent

Approximately 80% of these deaths are sudden and unexpected
